Custom Display Prop Design Brief: What to Send for a Faster Quote

A custom display prop quote becomes faster and more accurate when the supplier can understand the scene, size, finish, and delivery constraints early. A reference image alone is helpful, but it is rarely enough for production planning.

Use this design brief checklist before requesting a fiberglass display prop quote.

1. Reference images

Send the clearest visual references you have. They can be product photos, sketches, AI concept images, competitor displays, store photos, event mood boards, or screenshots.

For a food prop, include the real product from several angles. For a mascot or character, include front, side, and color references. For a photo spot, include the venue or floor plan if possible.

2. Target size and viewing distance

Size drives structure, cost, packing, and installation. Share the ideal height, width, depth, or at least the display area size.

Also explain where people will see the prop from: sidewalk, mall corridor, booth aisle, counter distance, or close-up photo area. A prop for a mall atrium needs different scale decisions than a fake cake display inside a bakery showcase.

3. Usage scene

Tell the supplier whether the prop will be used indoors or outdoors, temporarily or long term, by staff only or in a public area.

This affects coating, base design, weight, anchoring, cleaning, and durability. Outdoor photo spots usually need stronger finish planning than indoor counter props.

4. Quantity and rollout plan

One hero piece and 30 repeated store props should not be planned the same way. If the project is for multiple stores, include the number of locations, launch timing, and whether each location needs the same prop set.

For chain-store projects, consistency and packing documentation may matter as much as the first sample.

5. Finish expectations

Describe whether you want realistic, cartoon-like, luxury, playful, glossy, matte, textured, or brand-color matched. If there is a Pantone color, logo file, or packaging reference, include it.

For food props, specify whether the surface should look fresh, baked, frosted, melted, creamy, crispy, or enlarged but still realistic.

6. Deadline and destination

Production time depends on design confirmation, mold work, finishing complexity, quantity, packing, and shipping route. Share the required arrival date and destination country early.

If there is a grand opening, trade show, campaign launch, or fixed installation date, mention it in the first RFQ. The supplier can then judge whether air shipping, sea shipping, sectioning, or a simplified design is needed.

A simple RFQ format

You can send:

Project type: custom fiberglass display prop
Reference: attached images
Target size: 180 cm high
Quantity: 3 pieces
Use: indoor mall photo spot
Finish: glossy brand colors, logo on base
Deadline: needed before September opening
Destination: Los Angeles, USA

This level of detail helps the supplier respond with practical questions instead of a vague estimate.
